Williamsburg or Bust

Molly and I packed up our stuff and headed out at 5 a.m. on Thursday for a 5th grade trip to Williamsburg. Molly gave me 10 checklists to be sure I packed everything for myself - she knew she was packed and prepared but she was worried Mom wouldn't have what she needed. Our bus had a great trip up (one of our buses got stranded for 2 hours about 2 miles from the school on I -485)! Molly and I enjoyed sitting together and chatting - of course our chatting came in between her reading and listening to her ipod.

The Ferry Ride - I was a little surprised to find out that our charter bus along with the other four along with 100 other cars would all pull onto the ferry to ride across the river. Not being a fan of being in water with fish or driving over water this was a little unsettling. I had envisioned that we were riding a boat over - everyone secure with life jackets. NOT! They even told us to hop off the bus and wander around the ferry....fun fun! We thankfully all survived and made it to the other side.

We made it to Jamestown. This was a very interesting and educational experience. It was a lot of fun for the kids to see Jamestown in its original form. The huts and buildings were very neat and it was amazing to go on the boats and see the conditions the settlers came over on. No personal space for sure!
On Friday we spent the day in Williamsburg - it was wonderful! We had fun touring all of the buildings and houses - lunch was delicious and then Molly had her dream...3 hours of shopping! Forget the history lesson we are here for!

Molly and I at the end of the day - I think it is time for bed!
We had such a good time together on this trip and I am so thankful to have been able to go. Molly is a fun person to travel with and I pray that is just one of many girl trips we take!

Looks like you guys had a great time! I wish we had known you were going to be so close - only 45 minutes away! Tell Molly I love the shopping there too!
